Grid Spinoza is a project that explores the artistic and scientific research processes, methodologies and dynamics. The project is built around an online platform that contains an open archive of articles and audiovisual interviews with artists and scientists while it develops a programme of experiments, residencies and workshops related to different national and international networks. Synergy: Interdisciplinary Theory and Practice workshop

Interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary research are widely acclaimed as being loci of innovation and new knowledge and ways of solving difficult diverse problems, with the capacity to bridge epistemological and ontological divides. Simon Penny es un artista australiano, teórico, profesor y comisario en los campos de las prácticas culturales digitales, del Embodied Interaction, de Arte y Tecnología y de Arte Interactivo. Su práctica artística se pone de manifiesto a través de la instalación interactiva utilizando sensores y varias tecnologías robóticas. Es co-creador del sistema TVS multi-cámara de visión 3D. Sus obras han sido expuestas en ZKMArs Electronica, el Australian Center for the Moving Image (ACMI) y en muchos otros lugares. Ha publicado ensayos sobre la cultura digital desde 1987 (traducido a ocho idiomas) y ha hablado ampliamente sobre arte en los medios de comunicación electrónicos de todo el mundo. Ha compilado la antología Critical Issues in Electronic Media (SUNY Press, 1995). Ha sido comisario de Machine Culture (posiblemente la primera muestra internacional de arte interactivo) para SIGGRAPH 93. Penny es profesor de Arte e Ingeniería de la Universidad de California en Irvine. Es el arquitecto y director fundador del programa de postgrado interdisciplinario de la ACE (Arts, Computation and Engineering) en UCI. A lo largo de la década de 1990, fue profesor de Arte y Robótica en la Carnegie Mellon.
